The Industrial Automation Engineer will play a critical role in designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining automated systems used in industrial processes. This will lead to increased capacity and reduced manufacturing costs. You will help with the continuous improvement efforts of the Tooling facility. Your expertise will help us build an efficient, fully automated manufacturing facility to produce pharmaceutical tooling.
The Industrial Automation Engineer will report directly to the Plant Manager.
Job Responsibilities:
- Design innovative solutions to optimize industrial processes using automation technologies such as PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), robotics, and other automation/engineering technologies.
- Improve production output by assisting with the design of automated work centers.
- Partner with third-party automation integrators to develop efficient and productive automation cells.
- Identify areas for process improvement and cost reduction through automation.
- Assist with the design and management of establishing a world-class tool manufacturing facility.
- Partner with machinery vendors, and software providers to ensure project milestones are achieved in order to meet expected facility completion date.
- Ensure a streamlined efficient manufacturing process that allows for 20,000 tooling units to be manufactured per month with minimal scrap.
- Utilize personal experience and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of automation components.
- Achieve minimal human intervention of automated cells.
- Ensure continuous process improvements of the tooling facility.
- Help to train operators to troubleshoot and fix problems that may come up in day to day production.
- Collaborate with current shop floor personnel to understand tool manufacturing pain points.
- Effectively address and resolve labor capacity constraints.
- Efficiency drive data improvements of processes and product flow.
Job Requirements:
- 5-10+ years of proven successful automation implementation experience within a machining environment for small-batch operations.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
- Strong manufacturing, mechanical, and robotics background.
- Prior involvement in aiding the establishment of a new facility or supervising the construction of a new site.
- Prior experience with various types of automation, vision, inspection, and robotic systems.
- Ability to program logic controllers, sensors, and control systems and be able to adapt them to multiple brands of machine tools.
- Capable of maintaining a full view of the manufacturing process to understand how a decision now will affect things in the future.
- Understanding of improvements in the machinery available to manufacturers.
- Great organization skills with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to deliver results and accomplish goals to meet deadlines.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to listen and work towards finding solutions together as a team.
Pay: $ 85,000 - $105,000 based on your education, skills, and experience.
