Industrial Engineer

The Industrial Engineer will be responsible for optimizing our manufacturing and warehousing processes to enhance efficiency, productivity, and safety. This role involves analyzing existing processes, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing innovative solutions. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of manufacturing and warehousing principles, as well as experience in process improvement methodologies.
The Industrial Engineer will play a critical role in designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining automated systems used in industrial processes. This will lead to increased capacity and reduced manufacturing costs. You will help with the continuous improvement efforts in our facility. Your expertise will help us build an efficient, fully automated manufacturing facility to produce pharmaceutical tooling, machinery and ingredients.
The Industrial Engineer will report directly to the Plant Manager or Plant Superintendent.
Job Responsibilities:
- Analyze and evaluate existing manufacturing and warehousing processes to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and safety hazards.
- Develop and implement process improvement initiatives using techniques such as Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Kaizen.
- Design and implement efficient layouts for manufacturing and warehousing facilities, considering factors such as material flow, space utilization, and ergonomics.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, quality, and maintenance, to implement process improvements and resolve production issues.
- Conduct time studies and work measurements to establish standard operating procedures and optimize labor utilization.
- Develop and maintain documentation for manufacturing and warehousing processes, including work instructions, standard operating procedures, and process flow charts.
- Stay abreast of industry best practices and emerging technologies in manufacturing and warehousing.
- Assist with the training of operators and other personnel on new processes and procedures.
- Troubleshoot and fix problems that may come up in day-to-day production.
- Collaborate with current shop floor personnel to understand tool manufacturing pain points.
- Effectively address and resolve labor capacity constraints.
- Drive data improvements of processes and product flow.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in industrial engineering or manufacturing engineering, preferably in a manufacturing environment for small batch operations
- Strong understanding of manufacturing and warehousing principles, including material handling, inventory control, and production planning.
- Experience with process improvement methodologies, such as Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Kaizen.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or other layout design software.
- Ability to program logic controllers, sensors, and control systems and be able to adapt them to multiple brands of machine tools.
- Capable of maintaining a full view of the manufacturing process to understand how a decision now will affect things in the future.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with data analysis and visualization tools such as PowerBI, Excel, Google Sheets, and databases.
- Great organization skills with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to deliver results and accomplish goals to meet deadlines.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to listen and work towards finding solutions together as a team.
Pay: $85,000 - $105,000 based on your education, experience, and skills.
