General Manager - Production

We are seeking a customer-centric and results-driven General Manager to lead our CCS/Index/Stokes business unit in Huntingdon Valley, PA. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and grow a business that provides critical product and service solutions to clients in the pharmaceutical and nutraceutical industries. You will have full profit and loss (P&L) responsibility and will be accountable for developing and executing a customer-focused strategy that drives growth, innovation, and operational excellence. This leadership role encompasses all facets of the business unit, including operations, sales, engineering, customer service, and finance.
The General Manager will report directly to the Chief Operations Officer (COO).
Job Responsibilities:
Customer Focus & Solutions:
- Cultivate a strong customer-centric culture within the business unit, prioritizing customer needs and satisfaction in all aspects of operations.
- Develop a deep understanding of customer challenges and requirements and translate those insights into innovative product and service solutions.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, acting as a trusted advisor and partner to help them achieve their business objectives.
- Proactively identify and pursue opportunities to expand our product and service offerings to better meet evolving customer needs.
- Ensure timely and effective resolution of customer issues and concerns, exceeding expectations in service delivery.
Strategic Leadership & Growth:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive business strategy that aligns with the overall company vision and prioritizes customer value creation.
- Identify and pursue organic growth opportunities, including new product development, market penetration, and strategic partnerships, with a focus on delivering solutions that address customer needs.
- Evaluate and execute inorganic growth initiatives, such as mergers and acquisitions, to expand the business unit's portfolio and market reach in alignment with customer demand.
- Conduct market analysis, competitive assessments, and customer segmentation to inform strategic decision-making and identify emerging customer trends.
Operational Excellence:
- Oversee all operational aspects of the business unit, including production, purchasing, scheduling, quality control, and supply chain management, ensuring efficient and timely delivery of high-quality products and services to customers.
- Ensure on-time delivery of goods for Stokes (Tablet Presses) and Index (Capsule Fillers) while maintaining or exceeding quality expectations and optimizing costs to provide competitive solutions to customers.
- Implement lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, productivity, and quality, ultimately benefiting customers through improved product and service offerings.
- Drive cost reduction initiatives year-over-year while maintaining high-quality standards, ensuring customers receive maximum value for their investment.
Financial Management:
- Assume full P&L responsibility for the CCS/Index/Stokes business unit, ensuring financial sustainability and maximizing return on investment for the company and its customers.
- Develop and manage the annual budget, monitor financial performance, and ensure cost-effective operations to provide competitive pricing and value to customers.
- Analyze financial data, identify trends and variances, and take corrective actions to achieve financial targets while maintaining a focus on customer satisfaction and long-term relationships.
- Provide accurate and timely financial reporting to senior management, demonstrating the value and impact of customer-focused initiatives.
Team Leadership & Development:
- Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing team across all functional areas of the business unit, fostering a customer-centric mindset and empowering employees to deliver exceptional customer experiences.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that encourages innovation, accountability, and employee engagement, ultimately leading to improved customer satisfaction and loyalty.
- Develop talent and succession plans to ensure the long-term success of the business unit and its ability to consistently meet customer needs.
Engineering & Innovation:
- Establish a World-Class Engineering Center of Excellence to drive product development, innovation, and continuous improvement, with a focus on creating solutions that address customer challenges and enhance their operations.
- Collaborate with the engineering team to identify and implement new technologies and processes that enhance product quality, performance, and cost-effectiveness, ultimately delivering superior value to customers.
Compliance & Safety:
- Ensure compliance with all relevant industry regulations, quality standards, and safety protocols, maintaining the highest levels of integrity and customer trust.
- Implement and enforce safety procedures to maintain a safe and healthy work environment for all employees, contributing to a positive and productive work environment that ultimately benefits customer service and satisfaction.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field. MBA preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 5 years in a General Manager or similar role with full P&L responsibility.
- Proven track record of driving revenue growth, market share expansion, and profitability, with a demonstrated focus on customer satisfaction and retention.
- Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles, continuous improvement methodologies, and quality management systems, with the ability to translate these principles into tangible customer benefits.
- Experience in the pharmaceutical or medical device industry is highly desirable, with specific knowledge of tablet presses and capsule fillers a plus.
- Excellent financial acumen and analytical skills, with the ability to assess the financial impact of customer-focused initiatives.
- Demonstrated ability to build, lead, and motivate high-performing teams, fostering a customer-centric culture and empowering employees to deliver exceptional service.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with customers and build strong relationships.
Pay: $90,000 - $110,000 based on education, experience, and skills.
