About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer to be responsible for managing the day-to-day technical aspects of our equipment design and manufacturing processes. This role involves updating existing mechanical designs, developing new components or system configurations, supporting manufacturing, and ensuring the highest standards of engineering documentation and quality. Experience in the industrial manufacturing sector, particularly within pharmaceutical or nutraceutical environments, is highly valued.
The Mechanical Engineer will report directly to the Engineering Manager.
Job Responsibilities:
- Design, update, and revise mechanical components and assemblies using SolidWorks.
- Develop and maintain detailed engineering drawings incorporating Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) according to ASME Y14.5 standards.
- Create, manage, and update accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) for new and existing equipment designs in PDM and ERP systems.
- Collaborate closely with the controls and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless integration and production of equipment.
- Lead and participate in efforts to modernize existing equipment designs.
- Troubleshoot and resolve design-related issues that arise during the manufacturing process.
- Identify and implement cost-reduction initiatives for components and assemblies without compromising quality or functionality (VA/VE)
- Work directly with suppliers and procurement to source components, resolve technical issues related to supplied parts, and ensure parts meet specifications.
- Create and maintain comprehensive engineering documentation, including drawings, BOMs, specifications, and test reports.
- Support testing and validation of new designs and machine upgrades.
Job Requirements:
- A bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is required.
- Minimum of 5 years of mechanical design experience, preferably within the industrial manufacturing sector.
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience with Dassault SolidWorks, including solid modeling and detail drawing creation.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience using Product Data Management (PDM) platforms.
- Demonstrated experience in pharmaceutical or nutraceutical manufacturing environments is a plus.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling (SolidWorks preferred).
- Strong working knowledge of ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards.
- Experience with BOM creation and management.
- Knowledge of DFM/DFA as well as common manufacturing methods (e.g., machining, sheet metal fabrication, welding, etc.)
- Understanding of materials science and selection.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy.
Pay: $90,000 - $100,000 based on education, experience, and skills.
